Osloskolen educational program guide - A digital service for 10th graders

What do you want to study after 10th grade? It’s a difficult question for many. Together with JCP, we have developed an educational program guide that makes it easier for 10th graders in Oslo to find the right educational program.

Most people are familiar with the concept of an educational program guide, but when the target audience is 15-year-olds, it requires a solution that truly engages and motivates them to complete the entire test.

The result was a digital service that both engages the target audience and provides Osloskolen with a useful tool for the future.

JCP was responsible for the concept, text, and animated illustrations, while we handled the UX, design, development, and implementation in Craft CMS.

About the project

1. Robust system

To manage the content efficiently, we developed a robust system. This was particularly important as the questions, options, and scoring were developed alongside the design and development work for the educational program guide.

2. Technology vs. Creativity

We always aim to challenge ourselves creatively. However, with so many unknown variables around the questions, options, and scoring, we first needed to develop the system and guidelines. Only then could we be creative with the UX and design within those parameters.

3. Statistics

In the backend, various statistics are calculated, providing insights into which educational programs are most popular and how users have responded to the different questions. This anonymised data is valuable for the further development of the guide.

4. Service vs Campaign

A campaign has fewer structural constraints and could have been created differently. However, since this is a long-term digital service, we prioritised scalability and flexibility. All content and logic are editable in Craft CMS, making it easy to adapt the solution in the years to come.
